Our Mosquito Fire Lawyers have spearheaded some of the largest wildfire litigation in California and have represented over 5,000 individuals and business owners who lost homes and/or had property destroyed by California wildfires started through the negligence of a third party.

On Tuesday, September 6, 2022 at approximately 6:00 pm, firefighters responded to a newly reported wildfire “Mosquito Fire” near Mosquito Ridge Road on the north side of the OxBow Reservoir east of Forest Hill, Placer County, California.

Pacific Gas & Electric Co. submitted an Electric Incident Report to the California Public Utilities Commission. PG&E says one of its poles was near where the fire started and an electrical fault was recorded close to the start of the Mosquito Fire.

  • The U.S. Forest Service has placed caution tape around the base of the PG&E transmission pole (60Kv).
  • The cause of the massive Mosquito Fire has not been determined.

If a third-party is found to be responsible for causing the fire, you may be entitled to damages that your insurance – even good insurance — won’t cover. In addition to underinsured homes, most insurance policies don’t cover natural vegetation that is not part of the landscaping, or compensation for you or your family for the emotional upheaval caused by the Mosquito Fire.

Common Misconceptions:
Who Is Eligible to File a Claim?

Mosquito Fire survivors may not realize they can file a claim. Here are some common misconceptions about who is eligible for recovery:
False: Only Business Owners and Homeowners Can File Claims

It is NOT true that you can only file a claim if you owned a business or home that burned down.

You can file a claim for a number of reasons, including the loss of a rental home, personal property loss, and adverse health effects caused by the fire.

False: Only Insured Individuals Can File Claims

It is NOT true that only those with insurance policies can file claims.

This is a court claim against a utility company that is unrelated to your insurance coverage. You can file a claim whether or not your losses have been compensated by insurance.

False: Only Documented Losses Can Be Filed

It is NOT true that you must provide proof for every item lost in a fire.

You may be eligible to file regardless of whether you have the relevant documentation. In fact, the simple truth that you had to evacuate the fire may be sufficient to support your claim.

False: Only Cases of Wrongful Death and Injury Can Be Filed

It is NOT true that you can only file a claim if you have lost a family member or suffered a physical injury.

Other causes for submitting a claim may include fire-related damage to your home or loss of personal items.
